About

David Piluso is a Canadian guitarist, composer, and improviser from Toronto, ON. His interests include contemporary jazz fusion, progressive rock, improvisation, film scoring, experimental music, and music technology. He leads the Blue Hour Fusion Quartet, a progressive jazz-rock fusion band.

His debut record ‘Blue Hour‘ (July 2024) showcases his playing, composition, and production in the style of ‘prog-fusion’; blending elements of rock, prog, and jazz. The release has been featured on numerous outlets including Jazz.FM91, CBC Radio, among others. With a very positive reception, the release garnered thousands of streams and listeners having landed a spot on several charts, including landing a place on the first page of the Bandcamp charts for the jazz and fusion genres, and on the top 10 charts on CJAM 99.1 for July and October 2024.

David holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours (2022) and Master of Arts (2024) degrees in music from York University in Toronto, Canada, where he studied performance, composition, and music theory. Throughout his time at the university, he had the opportunity to study with and receive mentorship from several accomplished performers and composers. His final paper for his master’s explored several original compositions, with a guitar component showcasing improvisation and technical considerations.
