Hi there! I’m David Piluso, a guitarist, composer, and producer. I’m excited to share my passion for music with you through personalized online guitar lessons that cater to your unique interests and goals. My online lessons are all conducted with high quality audio and video technology to ensure the best possible experience.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your musicianship, I’m happy to help you unlock your potential. With my active involvement in music as a guitarist, composer, and producer, along with my formal education in music having earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Arts in music from York University, I bring both practical experience and academic knowledge and to my teaching.
I’m an active performer, composer, and producer. My personal style combines elements of jazz fusion with progressive rock. My debut record ‘Blue Hour‘ (2024) showcases my playing, composition, and production in this style. My music has been featured on numerous radio stations including Jazz.FM91, CBC Radio, among others. The release garnered thousands of streams and listeners, with a very positive reception. Blue Hour landed a spot on several charts, including landing a place on the first page of the Bandcamp charts for the jazz and fusion genres, and on the charts of several radio stations.
Regardless of your skill level or stylistic interests, I’m passionate about helping my students grow in their musical journey. I always aim to create a supportive and inspiring environment and take your progress and goals seriously.
While I specialize in progressive rock, jazz fusion, and metal, the knowledge and insights you gain from lessons will be applicable to any musical direction you’re interested in.

Encouraging students to get creative is my goal as a teacher. I often like to assign students small songwriting assignments to apply knowledge they’ve learned through concepts and songs.

Where to lessons take place?
Lessons are conducted online via video call. Upon booking a lesson, I will send you a meeting link that you can join from your device.
Are there disadvantages to online lessons?
Virtual guitar lessons can be just as effective as in-person instruction when the instructor uses the right technology. I have invested into a quality setup that allows me to teach online effectively, without compromise. This includes using a professional grade camera as my webcam, and routing all audio through a quality audio interface. This allows you to see and hear me with the upmost quality, and also hear a direct signal from my amplifier.
What do I need for online lessons?
It is recommended that you have a high speed internet connection, and a high quality webcam. Most modern devices have sufficient quality webcams.
While not required, I do recommend that students have an audio interface. These can be had for an affordable price and will allow you to record yourself and will also allow me to hear your direct signal.
What is your teaching method?
If you have specific goals or questions you’d like to work through, we will spend time with that. For students who feel stuck, or for those who don’t know what to work on, I can also take the lead and introduce you to new concepts and ideas. My goal as a teacher is to give you the knowledge and skill set to work through musical problems.
